Every year we at Ekko baptize.
It’s quite simple. We do it because we were told to and because we want to. Jesus directed his followers to baptize in his name. And we gladly participate because it’s been the lasting expression of joyous commitment in the church throughout history.
For this I am grateful.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
- Matthew 28: 19-20
This year we had the honor, again, of investing and walking alongside some new friends via Orthopraxis. What our new friends may not realize is that each and every one of them has been a blessing to get to know and have already made an impact in our community. Their desire to seek, follow, and covenant with God and his church is refreshing. Their newly found commitment, or for some their intentional re-commitment, has strengthened our resolve to be a discipling church.
For this I am grateful.
This Sunday we at Ekko have the privilege and the honor of baptizing our friends. And as we prepare for this year's baptism we can't help but be thankful for God's wisdom in placing these candidates in our tribe. They, and those that are becoming members with them in December, was/are exactly what this church needed and wanted.
For this I am grateful.
And as we look expectantly into our future together, we do so thanking God for what he has done thus far to get us all here to this point. We do this by thanking God for the family members, friends, ministers, and ministries that he used over the years to bring us to Jesus, to foster a curiosity for God, and anchored us in faith so that we find ourselves coming back to God, his church, his people... even if it was years later.
For this I am grateful.
"Already he who reaps is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for life eternal; so that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. "For in this case the saying is true, 'One sows and another reaps.' "I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored and you have entered into their labor.” - John 4: 36-38
So, as customary,
I want to take some time
to thank
and acknowledge
those God used
to bring each candidate thus far.
For this I am grateful.
May we at Ekko be just as faithful in - planting, watering, and if God willing, harvesting.
Thank You’s -

And this goes without saying, but it is due to the sacrificial love and dedication of our members who volunteer to guide each Orthopraxis (discipleship) student to God and to the Church, that these moments are possible. So as your pastor and friend, I'd like to say, thank you Ortho Leader, for making the sacrifice to invest in each and every Ortho attendee. Your faith is contagious.
