Why Ekko's Mental Health Sunday?
Discussion & Dialogue on Mental Health in the Life of a Christian Community
October 11th
When our minds are hurting, broken, or “knotted up" it is hard to live,
it is difficult to love
and sometimes it's nearly impossible
to pick up our cross and choose life.
Therefore, we need help, we need to heal in order to live more fully. Just like broken arms need a doctor to heal, not just so that the individual can go about feeding themselves again, but so that the individual will be abled to stretch out their arms
and feed the hungry,
embrace the lonely,
and pick up the fallen.
Our hope is that through these conversations the wounds of our minds will be addressed in order that we may be able to give of ourselves more fully to the call to love.
Jean Vanier says this,
"I have discovered the value of psychology and psychiatry, that their teachings can undo knots in us and permit life to flow again and aid us in becoming more truly human."
Discipleship in Christ is about becoming more truly human;
being truly human is to be truly loving.
Join me in praying for healthy minds in Ekko,
join me in asking God to “undo” the knots
that bind and hinder life from flowing.
May we be a church that loves God with all our hearts, bodies, and… minds.
